Hair for me has always been in my blood, as my mother was a trained stylist and still is to this day.
I remember being dragged around people’s houses, sat in front of the TV getting bored while my mum worked. I started watching and observing what was going on, the way she made people feel during and after a hair service – it was something special and the cuts were always perfect.
When I was 14 I started working at a well known local salon group as a Saturday boy. I have fond memories of the in-salon creative team creating wonderful works out of seemingly nothing. I saw the artistic approach and was hooked, as soon as I was school leaving age I started my intense Apprenticeship… exhausting!
Some years later I left that salon group and moved on to Toni and Guy where I finished my learning, graduating with a distinction level. From there, I started to work on the salon floor as a stylist and I was soon promoted to senior stylist before moving up the ranks to Style Director level. Not long after, I was appointed as one of the salon educators which led to me being promoted to lead salon educator- ensuring that all trainees were assisted through their NVQ and I delivered the in-salon extra training before their final exams at the Academy in London.
